What I love about Sleep Masks

You probably noticed that I have a very dry skin this winter. And when I started looking for products that hydrate my skin more, I came across sleep masks. Because of the great reviews, I bought the LANEIGE Water Sleeping Mask and the KLAVUU Nourishing Care Lip Sleeping Pack to try.

And I’m totally addicted to the results!

Every night I apply the sleep masks as the last step of my skincare routine. I leave it on for 20 minutes (because when I go to sleep right away, there is more on my pillow then on my face). Then go to sleep and wake up the next morning with a soft and hydrated face and lips. Why hadn’t I discovered this before?

A sleep mask is a bit like a regular face mask. The only difference is that you don’t have to rinse it off. The sleep mask is absorbed by your skin at night. This allows it to tackle various skin problems like dryness, hyperpigmentation, breakouts and fine lines while you’re sleeping.

An another advantage of sleep masks is that you wear it on your face for a long time. This allows the ingredients to penetrate deeply into your skin. And because your body recovers every night, the sleep mask supports this proces, giving your skin a boost.

It is sometimes advised not to use a sleep mask every night. It could irritate your skin and your skin could get used to it. This would cause the sleep mask lose its effectiveness. Yet I put one on every night. The packaging didn’t say that I shouldn’t use it every day. And besides that, it doesn’t irritate my skin. As long as I use it, my skin has visibly improved every morning.

Don’t want to take a risk? Then use a sleep mask once or twice a week.

How to use a sleep mask?

Before applying the sleep mask, start with your evening skincare routine first. Apply the sleeping mask as the last step (instead of your night cream).

Let it absorb for about 20 minutes, so that the mask doesn’t transfer to your pillow and blanket. After that you can sleep and let the mask do its job.
