My first CD I bought was from Shania Twain ‘Come on Over’. After school I ran to my room, put on the CD and sang along with the lyrics in the CD booklet. I also tried to recreate Shania’s looks by coping every pictured of her in the CD booklet.
It struck me that Shania had no dark armpits. I did have and I wasn’t aware of it before. How did I get rid of those dark armpits? Luckily I soon found out that I wasn’t the only one who has this. And I read all kinds of theories about it. Some said it was due to dry skin, others said it was due to dark skin or it was due to dark armpit hair. I followed the corresponding advices, but nothing really seem to work.
So I just accepted it. Although I have found out that my armpits are less dark if I exfoliate them regularly.
Then I found the A’PIEU Deo Armpit Brightener. And although people say it really works, I’m skeptical. Nevertheless I decided to get one to see if it really works. Did it work? Do I finally have ‘Shania Twain’ armpits? Hereby my review.
About the brand A’pieu
A’Pieu is a Korean beauty brand and is also the daughter brand of MISSHA (an another famous K-beauty brand). They exist since 2008. At first you could only buy their products online, but they have stores since 2011.
The name A’PIEU sounds French to me, but that isn’t surprising; the name is based on the French words ‘First’ and ‘Basic’. And I don’t quite understand this. I speak a little French ( I had 6 years of French class in high school), but I don’t understand the theory behind the french name ‘A’Pieu’. Maybe someone could explain it to me.
But they themselves say it means the following: first skincare and makeup for young girls. Their skincare must be gentle and their makeup must look natural for young girls. Therefor they only use organic ingredients in their products like: fruit and vegetable extracts, goat milk, hyaluronic acid, milk proteins and snail mucin.
All products are hypoallergenic and doesn’t contain parabens. So this brand is very suitable for the sensitive skin.
The Deo Armpit Brightener
The Deo Armpit Brightener comes in a small pink tube. It only contains 20 gram product and to be honest, I think that’s not much. Perhaps there is so little in it, because the result is quickly visible (?).
Anyway, they promise to keep my underarms milky-white and smooth by removing dead skin cells and wastes. It also protects my armpits against sweat and unpleasant odors.
How does it works?
- Make sur your armpits are clean and dry and apply a moderate amount.
- Wait 1 minute and then massage the skin.
- Rinse with lukewarm water.
That should work for me 🙂
My experience with the Deo Armpit Brightener
At first, I didn’t really know how much to put on my armpits. I didn’t want to use much, because there was already so little in it. But I didn’t want to use too little either. So I used an amount that was enough to cover my entire armpit.
The product itself is pure white and when I put it on my armpits , my armpits become super white. It looks like some kind of cream and it reminds me of a medical cream. The smell of it isn’t overpowering and it is nice.
According to the user manual I should leave it for 1 minute, but I have read from other users that you should leave it on longer for better results. That’s why I left it for 5 minutes.
After 5 minutes my armpits were still white, but the product started to crumble. It crumbled even further when I started massaging my skin. I had crumbles everywhere, on my chest, stomach and on the floor. That annoyed me a bit.
When I rinsed the product there was a white layer over my armpits. So yes they looked whiter (haha), but not the way I hoped.
Because this product is also a deodorant, I didn’t use any extra deodorant on my armpits. And during the day I regretted it. After a short walk outside, I felt my armpits getting damp. And you should know that it’s winter in the Netherlands. Anyway, it was the first time using this product, so maybe my armpits still had to get used to it.
My experience after 1 week
I’m starting to hate putting on this product. The crumbles irritate me. And sometimes a piece of this product disappears under my nail and I have to put a lot of effort to remove that.
Besides that, I don’t know if I really see my armpits getting lighter. They look whiter when the product is on, but once that’s gone I don’t see any difference. They do feel softer.
But what bothers me the most is that my armpits really smell. The smell is so awful that I’m started to feel ashamed of it. Especially because it’s winter, I can’t exercise because of the lockdown and so I have no reason to smell like that from my armpits.
And so I stopped using it. I use normal deodorant again and my armpits are as usual.
According to the packaging, you can also use this product on other dark looking skin, like elbows. And maybe someday I try it. But to also use this skin brightener as a deodorant was perhaps a bit ambitious of the developers. So no, this Deo Armpit Brightener didn’t work for me.
