I noticed that beauty addicts on Instagram often had a jar of Banila Co Clean it Zero Cleansing Balm on their shelf. Although I was familiar with the Cleansing Balm, I hadn’t felt the need to buy it yet. I still was just very satisfied with my Pyunkang Yul Cleansing Foam.
Nevertheless I know that a cleansing balm is very suitable for dry skin, so I would be crazy not to try it out. So I asked it as a Christmas present. And now I’ve been using it since Christmas and I think that’s long enough to have an opinion about it.
Do I say goodbye to my cleansing foam and switch to a cleansing balm for good? Read on to find out.

The Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm Original
The Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm Original is the mother of all Clean It Zero Cleansing Balms. There is also the Revitalizing, Nourishing and Purifying Cleansing Balm.
The Cleansing Balm is a solid balm that quickly transform into silky oil upon touching the skin. It removes makeup and impurities without stripping your skin’s natural oils. The cleanser is hypoallergenic and packed with papaya, acerola extracts and vitamin C. This prevents aging, helps brighten dull skin and soothes the skin.
In addition, it promises to keep your skin hydrated and to improve the appearance of the skin. And good to know: it’s suitable for every skin type.
What I think of the Cleansing Balm Original
The balm comes in a pink jar and I love the design! It feels great in the hand, looks lovely on my shelf (next to my other products), and is also photogenic. The balm itself reminds me of coconut oil and frankly, it didn’t immediately get me excited.
I must confess that after I got my balm, I didn’t use it right away. I liked the idea of a foaming cleanser so the idea of a balm didn’t appeal to me.
The first impression
Yet I couldn’t get out of it the next day. I was celebrating Christmas with a friend and I forgot my beloved cleansing foam. All I had in my bag was the Cleansing Balm. I was still curious if it could remove my Christmas makeup. I took some balm from the jar and it still felt as coconut oil. I put it on my face and especially on my makeup.
The balm melted on my face and a pleasant scent came off. It felt good. The balm felt a bit greasy as soon as I massaged it into my skin and for a moment I doubted whether it would do its job. But when I rinsed it off and my heavy waterproof makeup disappeared, I was convinced. This could work!
After I dried my skin it felt soft and not dry. Yet I could barely believe if it had thoroughly cleansed my skin. I’m so used to a cleansing foamer… I just assumed my skin was clean.
After multiple uses
I use the Cleansing Balm in my evening skincare routine, because I’m still more of a fan of a cleansing foamer. Although the balm really smells good, I don’t always like the greasy feeling on my face. I know that the feeling is only temporary, but it must be me.
The Cleansing Balm is really great in removing waterproof makeup! For that reason alone I would buy a second one. And I have to say that my skin feels very nourished after using it. It also promised that it would brighten my skin. I honestly didn’t notice any of that.
I would especially recommend this balm if you’re looking for a gentle makeup cleanser that does an excellent job. And if you’re looking for a cleanser that won’t leave your skin feeling dry.
