Review | SOME BY MI H7 Hydro Max Cream

I have to say, since I’ve used the SOME BY MI AHA BHA PHA 30 Days Miracle Cream, I’m hesitant to try (and buy) some more creams from the brand SOME BY MI.

But I received the H7 Hydro Max Cream in a test sample that I could use twice. I was very pleased with it. The cream spread easily over my skin, absorbed quickly and my skin felt soft.

So I decided to buy the cream and immediately had high expectations. I even thought that this cream would be even better than the Purito Deep Sea Pure Water Cream.

But unfortunately I’m less enthusiastic about it than I had hoped beforehand…

About the brand

SOME BY MI is a Korean brand. The word ‘mi’ means ‘beauty’ in Korean. The English words ‘something’ and ‘by a miracle’ were combined to it, and together they created the sentence ‘some by mi’.

SOME BY MI believes that natural beauty deserves attention, and that’s why they offer a wide range of skin care and makeup essentials. Their popularity started in Southeast Asian. The brand opened pop-up stores in Korea, Indonesia and Malaysia. That was so successful that the brand expanded to more than 20 countries worldwide.

The H7 Hydro Max Cream

When you look at the packaging of this cream, it looks very promising. I even think the packaging looks almost medical.

According to the packaging the cream contains hyaluronic acid, which is a big plus for me. And there’s something in it what is called Hepta System. I don’t fully understand this, but the bottom line is that it contains 7 different hyaluronic acid molecules that penetrate 7 layers deeper into your skin. Honestly, I don’t believe this but okay, it sounds like good marketing.

In addition, the cream also contains 71% deep sea water from Ulleungdo Island. Here I got lose. Where or what is Ulleungdo Island?

According to Wikipedia it’s a Korean island (never heard of it before) and I can’t find anywhere that the water there has some special properties.

What it promises

This cream promises quite, uh, a lot. I’m short: the cream keeps your skin hydrated with 7 kinds of hyaluronic acids. It also contains 71% mineral-rich pure deep seawater from Ulleungdo. This water regulates your skin’s pH levels, treat blemishes and soothe atopic skin.

But wait, there is more:

  • The cream also contains three panted ingredients to revitalize the skin and improve elasticity.
  • It only uses first grade ingredients and 21 kinds of natural extracts.
  • It’s anti-wrinkle and it brights the skin.
  • It’s proven hypoallergenic.
  • It improves adherence of makeup products.
  • It keeps the skin moisturized under hard conditions.

And there’s also the 7 hyaluronic acid molecules. Each molecule reaches a layer deeper in the skin:

  • H1 – strengthens the skin barrier and is 6000x more moisturizing.
  • H2 – has a perfect adherence and boosts hydration.
  • H3 – is ultra-moisturizing and keeps the skin moisturized regardless of temperature.
  • H4 – delivers moisture deep into the skin and stays on the skin even after cleansing.
  • H5 – contains snail secretion filtration. It promotes skin elasticity and self-repair.
  • H6 – contains super lightweight Mushroom Extract and delivers moisture deep into the skin.
  • H7 – instantly reduces fine lines and has a prolonged moisturizing effect.

Honestly, the more I read about the amazing properties of this cream, the less believable I find it. I mean, it’s not even an expensive cream… It almost sounds too good to be true.

What I think of the H7 Hydro Max Cream

I bought this cream on Yesstyle for €15.50 ($18.24). There would be 50 ml of cream in it, yet it felt like the packaging was only 3 quarters full.

The cream has a white and light texture and has a strong citrus smell. I didn’t expect that and I don’t think it’s pleasant at all. The cream spreads easily on my face, but it stings on my cheeks and around my eyes. I guess it’s because of the citrus fragrance? After a while my cheeks turned a bit red because of it. Great

My skin absorbs the cream easily, but it remains a bit sticky. Yet my skin feels very soft and firm. The stickiness disappears after a while.

Because the cream promises to improve adherence of makeup products, I put some eyeliner on my eye. I didn’t think my eyeliner looked better. It seemed more faded.

My skin stays hydrated for the rest of the day, but it doesn’t give me a wow effect. However, I think it’s an ideal cream for the summer. It moisturize the skin well and it’s very light.

Yet I wouldn’t buy this cream again, because of citrus fragrance and my skin reaction to this. I find it strange that this cream is supposedly hypoallergenic, while they add a citrus scent in it. Besides, I don’t think the citrus scent fits at all with this cream. Since they promote that it has 71% seawater in it, I don’t expect a fragrance or at least a fragrance that reminds me of the sea.

All in all, I think this cream has too many promises, so that the results can only be disappointing. Maybe if SOME BY MI bragged a little less about this cream, I would much more excited about it.

I would recommend this cream if you’re looking for a light moisturizer for the summer. But I would skip this cream if you have a sensitive skin. The Purito Deep Sea Pure Water Cream would be a much better option!
