K-beauty isn’t very well known in the Netherlands. I think most people have heard of it, but at least it’s not a hype here.
Skin care is also not very popular here. If Dutch people do skin care, there is often an underlying reason. For example, they suffer from acne or pigmentation.
In stores, the makeup departments are larger than the skin care department. Sometimes I check the skin care department and still see products that are a bit outdated, such as micellar water and cleansing wipes.
So it’s no wonder that I always buy my skin care products online and also search online for the latest K-beauty and J-beauty trends. Thank God for the internet!
Recently I collected the latest K-beauty trends and like to share it with you. Here are the 5 trends to watch!
1. Water creams
I really love water creams. A water cream is a lightweight moisturizer, which does the same as a thick moisturizing cream.
Although a water cream works the same as a thick moisturizing cream, a water cream has more benefits. It absorbs faster and also keeps your pores from getting clogged. This prevents irritations.
Water creams are suitable for all skin types, but especially for oily and acne-prone skin.
Niacinamide is an ingredient that I come across more and more in K-beauty products. It’s very powerful and does a lot for your skin.
Niacinamide combats hyperpigmentation and dark spots. It also minimizes pores, soothes the skin and gives it hydration.
In short, an ingredient that is indispensable in your skin care routine!
3. Double serum
I must confess I haven’t tried this trend yet. The idea is to use two different serums to tackle two skin problems at the same time.
Honestly I’m not completely convinced to use two different serums, but I’m definitely going to give it a try. I’m curious what effects it has on my skin. As soon as I have more experience with it, I’ll write a post about it!
Watermelon is an upcoming ingredient. I haven’t use this ingredient yet in K-beauty products, but I have a lip balm from The Body shop with watermelon. I really love the smell of it!
Watermelon moistures the skin and has antioxidant properties. It also seems to work great against heat rash.
Actually it’s an ingredient you want to add into your summer skin care routine!
5. Double duty products
Double duty products are products that work as a skin care and makeup as well. The advantage of this is that you need fewer products on your skin.
This is sustainable and ensures less product waste. Products like glow drops, tinted moisturizers and serums will therefore increase.
I think this trend is ideal for people who use a lot of makeup, but I don’t use much makeup myself. So I wouldn’t use double duty products that quickly.
