Oh, I Hate The Benton Snail Bee High Content Steam Cream So Much!

From now on there will be a blog post once a week on Monday. Since I have a newborn, I find it difficult to blog twice a week and to maintain my website in the meantime. That’s why a post appears once a week, so that I have enough time for the rest 🙂

I bought the Benton Deep Green Tea Toner again (read my review here) and got a free Snail Bee High Content Steam Cream Mini.

Because I really love this toner, I therefore had high expectations of this cream. Especially because it’s called steam cream. I expected I had to use steam, but unfortunately that turned out not to be the case.

So as soon as I got it I used it the next morning. And actually I was immediately disappointed and the next day too.I normally use a skin care product that I’m not satisfied with for at least one week, but with this product I lasted 3 days.

I’m thinking about throwing this product away no matter how bad I think it is. But I couldn’t give it away to anyone. I think this cream is too bad. Curious why I have this opinion? Read on!

About the brand Benton

Benton is a Korean skin care brand and the origin of the name is quite funny. The name is based on the American movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

If you don’t know the movie: it’s about a man, Benjamin, who is born as an old man. The older he gets, the younger his body gets.

That’s also the philosophy of Benton. They want to create products that make you look younger and healthier.

They mainly focus on people with sensitive skin. Their products doesn’t irritate. That’s why they only use natural ingredients which are 100% from Korea. The products are also not tested on animals and they have a Beauty Without Bunnies certification from PETA.

What it promises

The Benton Snail Bee High Content Steam Cream is a mix of natural ingredients. It’s made under high temperatures with a special steam technology to increase the effectiveness of the cream.

The steam is high moisturizing and forms a protective coating. The coating closely absorbs into the skin.

The cream also improves skin tone by brightening and it treats wrinkles. It’s a smooth cream that isn’t sticky.

It consists for 64% of snail mucin and it also contains been venom. The snail mucin deeply nourishes and hydrates the skin. The bee venom stimulates the collagen production.

This cream is suitable for sensitive skin.

What I think of the Benton Snail Bee High Content Steam Cream

First of all, I think the packaging is very ugly. I think the brown with the black look old-fashioned. But I was also not pleased with the packaging of the Deep Green Tea Toner. Yet the toner turned out to be great, so maybe that applied also to this cream.

I could never be so wrong…

This cream promises two things that I think  it doesn’t deliver: “Closely absorbing into the skin” and “Smooth cream without stickiness”

Well… I don’t think so. The cream in the jar feels very smooth. The texture is a bit strange and, according to other reviews, you have to love it. Some people don’t like the texture and therefore don’t like this cream. But I think the texture is okay. Maybe a bit too smooth, because it slides out of the jar easily, so I mess a bit on the sink.

When I apply this cream, it provides a white cast on my face. And that white cast isn’t going away anytime soon.

According to the packaging you have to tap the cream into your skin. That seems to help somewhat against the white cast.

After the white cast seems to disappear, my skin looks oily and shiny. I also get the feeling that the cream hadn’t been absorbed into my skin, but is on my face as a layer. And besides that, my skin feels sticky.

As soon as I see my husband he asks what I did on my face, because it looks shiny. I tell him about my new cream. He raises his eyebrow. ‘You know I can see how much cream you put on? I even can see where you forgot’, he continued.

Then he points to a spot next to my ear. It’s red there and has small bumps. That looks like an allergic reaction. Great!

I read in other reviews that some people do indeed get allergic reaction to this cream. They think it’s the bee venom. I don’t know if I’m allergic to bee venom, but I could.

The allergic reaction went away during the day, but my face stayed sticky. I actually felt the cream all day long.

I used the cream for two more days, until it drove me crazy. This cream irritated me so much that I couldn’t judge the result of this cream well. So I don’t know if this cream improves my skin tone or takes care of my wrinkles. I just can’t use this cream any longer.

I’m glad I got this cream for free, so I didn’t feel bad when I throw it away! Never again.
